Projectilist. I like that term. It embodies something more than 'Shooter', 'Gunny' or 'Firearms Enthusiast'. Like Musketeer or Swordsman, the label Gunman originally carried a noble connotation. It referred to a student of arms; one dedicated to the proficiencies, both academic and practical, of one school of martial implement. Unfortunately, early newspaper reports of the actions of armed criminals corrupted the public's understanding of the term 'Gunman' to mean any thug armed with a firearm. To again elevate the ideal of the trained and scholarly individual mastering the use of firearms, I suggest the use of the term: Projectilist.
